WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

Itshekeng Educational Tours was established after the founder, Ms Dineo Rakumakoe saw a huge gap amongst the youth and learners from disadvantaged backgrounds in their lack of exposure into different careers that exist. Therefore Itshekeng Educational Tours was birthed in order to be able to grant career exposure to high school learners and university students.

We have so far been able to reach out to over 60 schools (including a few primary schools) in Gauteng and have worked with them by taking their learners to career exposure tours, we have also hosted career expo events in schools, organised and facilitated by us.

We have worked with a few departments, companies and organisations like the Department of Science and Technology, NRF and SAASTA for 3 (three) consecutive years for the national science week.

We are currently working with Tshwane University of Technology and we have taken some of their students from their Science Faculty to a career exposure tour to the CSIR Nanotechonology Department, iThemba Labs, Protechnik Laboratories a division of AMSCOR, just to name a few and we are currently running a program to place their students in companies for their Work Integrated Learning program.

The expo is aimed at assisting learners in choosing the right careers for their future and also exposing them to careers that were never known to them. This is to provide them with key solutions in challenges they may be facing, such as lack of industry knowledge and varied career choices.

A need was identified to help learners and students chose careers that are linked to their interests and purpose. Exposing them to careers that might not be at their disposal because of lack of career guidance and counseling.

The long term benefit of this initiative is to make sure that we have the right people in the right jobs in organisations where joy will thrive in their everyday life.

We are expecting morethan 10000 students and 100 companies to exhibit within two days.
