Itshekeng Educational Tours was founded by Ms. Dineo Rakumakoe in response to the significant lack of career exposure among youth and learners from disadvantaged backgrounds. Recognizing the critical need to bridge this gap, the organization was established with a clear mission: to provide meaningful career exposure and guidance to high school learners and university students across South Africa.
Since its inception, Itshekeng Educational Tours has partnered with over 120 schools, primarily in Gauteng, including several primary schools. Through structured career exposure tours, on-site school expos, and career development programs, we have been instrumental in broadening students’ understanding of the diverse career paths available to them.
Our organization has proudly collaborated with notable institutions and government departments, including the Department of Science and Technology, National Research Foundation (NRF), and South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA). For three consecutive years, we partnered with these organizations to deliver impactful programming for National Science Week, enhancing students’ interest in STEM careers.
In our ongoing efforts to support tertiary students, we are currently working with the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). We have facilitated career exposure tours for students from TUT’s Faculty of Science to leading research and innovation institutions, such as:

Protechnik Laboratories, a division of Armscor
In addition, we are currently coordinating Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placements for TUT students, connecting them with relevant industry partners to gain practical experience aligned with their academic training.
